General Manager Nikholas Bauer: Vietnam’s Leading General Manager 2026

Nikholas Bauer, General Manager of Radisson Blu Resort, Phu Quoc, has been nominated for Vietnam’s Leading General Manager 2026. His career has been built on hospitality’s most demanding briefs: openings, restructurings and turnarounds. In Phu Quoc, it has found a clear purpose: a resort that answers to its island as well as its guests.

A Career Built on Turning Points
Educated at the German Swiss International School Hong Kong and the Centre International de Glion in Switzerland, Mr. Bauer began in food and beverage management before rising through a leading Thai hotel group. There he led what his profile describes as the first property of one of the group’s brands to be operated outside Thailand, delivering a positive financial turnaround. He went on to serve as Hotel Manager of the group’s Bangkok flagship and as General Manager of an award-winning lifestyle property in Pattaya, with a sharp focus on sales, marketing and finance.

The years that followed tested different strengths. At an international brand’s flagship operation in Thailand, he oversaw the restructuring of every department. As an independent consultant in Bangkok, he worked on pre-opening start-ups, operating standards and feasibility studies for underperforming assets. He then moved to Vietnam with a global hotel group as General Manager across three properties, including a second-phase pre-opening in Hoi An and an all-villa property in Danang.

Responsibility as a Compass
At Radisson Blu Resort, Phu Quoc, Responsible Business is framed as the principle guiding how the resort cares for its people, its community and the planet. Mr. Bauer has made the case personally, citing that “Climate change is not a distant threat” as he called on colleagues to act as Move to Zero ambassadors on Radisson’s path towards net zero emissions. The commitment has taken physical form. The resort’s team, its Moment Makers, travelled to Ganh Dau Port for a clean-up that removed 922 kilograms of plastic waste. A Soap for Hope initiative with Diversey drew coverage from Kien Giang Radio-Television, and the resort has completed Hotel Sustainability Basics verification.

Rooted in Island Life
The resort’s engagement with Phu Quoc extends to the table. At the island’s inaugural Fish Sauce Festival, its culinary team presented The Art of Taste, a menu inspired by the sea and the spirit of the island, and earned the event’s top recognition. Within its own walls, a service philosophy of “Yes, I Can” is matched by a culture that keeps its people: one family, parents and daughter, all work at the resort, with the father promoted to Assistant Chief Steward and the mother, the resort’s seamstress, recognised as Employee of the Year.

A Standard Worth Recognising
What sets Mr. Bauer apart is the continuity between his record and his present work. The discipline that opened hotels and turned others around in Thailand and Vietnam now underpins a resort that measures itself by its impact on people and place as much as by its service. Environmental action, community leadership and a team that stays and grows together place him among the strongest leaders in Vietnamese hospitality today.

From a brand’s first step beyond Thailand to a resort guided by responsibility on Vietnam’s Pearl Island, Mr. Bauer has built his career where the work is hardest: at the beginning, and at the turning point.
